Jelle De Wit
Training began as a student at Fontys
School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg, Netherlands, where he earned a BA in theatre with a specialisation in teaching in 2012. The starting point of the four-year programme was to develop individual acting skills in order to fully and deeply explore the art of theatre – and to pass that on to other actors. After he graduated he worked as a drama teacher & freelance actor in different theatre companies in Belgium & The Netherlands. Because Jelle was more interested in the physical part of theatre he decided to start a 2-year full-time programme in Physical theatre (Devised theatre & performance) at Lispa (now arthaus.berlin) & combines an MA in theatre at the Rose Bruford college in London, England where he graduated in June 2019. At the moment Jelle works as a freelance teacher/performer in Germany & Belgium.
From Jelle’s perspective, performing and creating are never a purely individual or conceptual matter. Words, movements and tableaux come to life once they truly connect with someone and something else. A fellow actor or dancer. A pupil. A shared, public space with its own meaning and resonance. An audience.
